Information you provide to us – visitors

Your privacy is important to us. By providing personal information such as your name and e-mail address via the forms on this website, you agree to us contacting you with regard to the information you request. Under no circumstances will your personal information be sold or used by anyone other than our organisation and relevant member firms of the organisation.

From time to time, we may include links in our emails to other web sites which we think may be of
interest to you. Each email communication you receive from us will have the option to remove your e-mail address from our list.

Information we monitor about visitors

During the course of any visit to our site, the pages you see, along with a short text file called a ‘cookie’, are downloaded to your computer. Many websites do this, because cookies facilitate useful features such as the ability to identify whether a user has successfully logged into the site or to find out whether the computer (and probably its user) has visited the website before.

We use this anonymised information to help us to improve our website.

Under no circumstances do we sell or release any information obtained to any outside entities. However, where you ask for an introduction to a local accountant we will pass on to them any information that you provide to us.

Members’ information

Information that members provide to us about their firms and contact details is provided specifically for us to show that information on the website for prospective clients and others to use to contact you. It is your responsibility to ensure that this information is up to date and relevant and to notify the Secretary if changes need to be made. Callers to AISMA requesting information about individual members will be directed to the website (or information from the website read or copied to them).

Applicants’ information

The data we collect from applicants is to enable us to determine suitability for membership. We continue to hold data supplied by applicants who have not been accepted to provide a historical reference should they apply again in the future, and to confirm the reasons for the prior non acceptance. You can ask us to destroy this information if you will not want to reapply. Once an applicant has been accepted, data is retained as shown under Members’ information as above.
